Thursday, 10 May 2007 Macular Degeneration reversed in 77 year old woman In a recent pilot study into the effects of HBOT on Macular Degeneration, a 77 year old woman diagnosed with Macular Degeneration in 1993 was given 10 treatments in a monoplaced chamber in our Brisbane clinic and recorded an improvement of 65% in one eye. After a further 10 treatments the same eye further improved to a total of 75% while the other eye improved 50%. Near Acuity improved from N16 to N10. Other health benifits, resulting from the hyperbaric treatments also helped to improve this woman's quality of life and, for the first time in many years, the woman was able to read and move around independantly.
